BalticNOG Is Coming to Riga and We Can’t Wait

After an unforgettable debut in Vilnius last autumn, BalticNOG is on the move. We’re thrilled to announce that BalticNOG 2026 will take place on September 23–24, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel in Riga, Latvia. Two days, one city, and hundreds of network professionals from across the Baltics and beyond. This is shaping up to be the most exciting edition yet.

A Look Back at BalticNOG 2025

Before we look ahead, it’s worth taking a moment to appreciate just how remarkable the first BalticNOG really was.

The inaugural event was held at LITEXPO on September 24–25, 2025. It brought together more than 200 network professionals, engineers, and decision-makers. Attendees came from across the Baltic States, Scandinavia, Central Europe, the United States, and even Australia. That number exceeded even our most optimistic expectations for a brand-new NOG event. Overall, the programme was rich with technical depth from keynotes that challenged the room to hands-on case studies attendees could take straight back to their networks.

Sessions That Got Everyone Talking

Several highlights kept conversations buzzing throughout the event:

Geoff Huston’s “Networking in the Dark” opened the conference with a thought-provoking exploration of what we don’t and perhaps can’t know about the internet’s behaviour at scale. It set the tone perfectly for everything that followed.

BGP Flow Spec for DDoS mitigation drew one of the most engaged audiences of the event. Specifically, it offered an honest look at deploying Flow Spec in production environments, including vendor support inconsistencies and the real pitfalls engineers encounter in the field.

Network automation made a strong showing. Moreover, sessions challenged attendees to think beyond tooling and consider the organisational prerequisites that determine whether automation truly succeeds.

Segment Routing and SR-TE gave the MPLS veterans in the room plenty to think about. In particular, it covered the algorithms and architectural decisions behind SR Traffic Engineering controllers in real ISP environments.

Cross-border digital infrastructure and compliance connected technical decisions to regulatory reality. For example, it drew on cases like Estonia’s X-Road and Europe’s GAIA-X federation.

Beyond the sessions themselves, BalticNOG 2025 delivered something harder to put on a slide: genuine community. New collaborations started over coffee. And the evening party held at the iconic Lukiškių Prison 2.0 in Vilnius, a former working prison turned vibrant cultural venue, gave everyone a night to remember long after the slides were packed away.

BalticNOG 2026 — Riga, Latvia

Now we set our sights on Riga, and the excitement is very real.

Latvia’s capital is a natural home for a gathering like this. It sits at the heart of some of the region’s most active network infrastructure, and its growing digital economy makes it an ideal backdrop for conversations about the future of internet operations in the Baltics and beyond. For BalticNOG’s second edition, we’re building on everything that worked in Vilnius and pushing further.
The conference will be held at the Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel, a landmark venue in the centre of Riga with the conference infrastructure, space, and atmosphere that a growing event like BalticNOG deserves.

The Evening Party at Tallinas kvartāls

BalticNOG wouldn’t be BalticNOG without a party that matches the energy of the day’s sessions. After the bar set by Lukiškių Prison in Vilnius, we needed a venue in Riga that could rise to the occasion, and we found it.
The official BalticNOG 2026 evening gathering will take place at Tallinas kvartāls, one of Riga’s most vibrant creative districts. It’s the kind of place where conversations that started in a conference room take on a life of their own, good food, great drinks, and the kind of relaxed atmosphere where the real connections happen.
