Community Tools for a Safer Internet

Cyber defense doesn’t always come with a price tag. At BalticNOG 2025, Scott Fisher, senior member of the Team Cymru Community Outreach Team, will showcase how free community-driven tools are helping ISPs, IXPs, and CSIRTs fight back against threats — and why collaboration is key to building a safer internet.

From Bogons to Threat Feeds

Team Cymru has long been known for its reputation data and routing hygiene resources, from the original Bogon lists to more advanced threat feeds. Scott will highlight how these services remain essential building blocks for network operators — and why they’re still evolving in 2025.

Defending at Scale

Stopping attacks like DDoS or large-scale abuse requires more than just local protections. Expect a glimpse into tools enabling global coordination, such as upstream blackholing, NetFlow-based monitoring, and multi-tenant platforms designed to protect ISPs and IXPs.

A Mission of Outreach

Behind the technology is a mission: to “save and improve human lives.” Scott will share how Team Cymru works directly with operators, CSIRTs, and law enforcement to bridge gaps between NetOps, security, and threat intelligence teams — proving that community collaboration is as powerful as any tool.
