From an Idea in Prague to BalticNOG: Opening and Closing the First Chapter

Sometimes the biggest journeys begin with the smallest sparks. For BalticNOG, that spark was lit at a RIPE 89 event in Prague, where Paulius Judickas and Vincentas Grinius found themselves talking about what more could be done to bring the Baltic community together.

The idea lingered, and soon after, Donatas Abraitis reached out to Vincentas with thoughts about LTNOG. Those conversations grew, shifted, and evolved. Out of many discussions, one vision became clear: the Baltics needed their own gathering. A place where engineers, researchers, and operators could exchange knowledge, challenge ideas, and build the kind of connections that push our industry forward. And so, BalticNOG was born.

The First BalticNOG Event: From Vision to Reality

Fast-forward, and what began as an idea in a hallway is now a reality: the very first BalticNOG event, a two-day forum designed not just for presentations but also for collaboration, inspiration, and community building.

What started as a spark of conversation grew into something far greater thanks to more than just one or two people. The BalticNOG founding team and the Program Committee took that early idea and turned it into reality. From shaping the vision to building the agenda and rallying the community, they are the reason this first BalticNOG is happening.

  • Vincentas Grinius will open the event, welcoming everyone into what promises to be a new tradition of Baltic technical exchange.
  • Paulius Judickas will close it, bringing together the threads of two days of insights and—without giving too much away—sharing something that will make everyone in the room look forward to what’s next.

BalticNOG is proof of what can happen when ideas are nurtured, people come together, and a community decides to write its own story. The first chapter begins now, with Paulius and Vincentas opening and sealing it.
